Giacomo is an artist and an academic. His digital paintings resonate with his research on past and present environmental crises, responding to the overwhelming feelings of powerlessness and despair associated with eco-anxiety. He recently shared some thoughts about his art during an interview with Dr Patty Baker, part of The Sustainable Past podcast series that he contributed to design.

Giacomo is currently developing the project 'Unspeakable: Creative Responses to Ancient and Modern Environments', a series of workshops and outreach activities focused on the formative role of nature and the environment in shaping human experience. The project, funded by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, explores creative interfaces between the humanities and science in response to environmental crises, bringing scholars into dialogue with novelists, poets, visual artists, and climate activists.

Giacomo also works as a freelance illustrator and is co-director of VHF, a micro-company producing music and short films. He is currently finalising the animated short film Vergebung, co-directed with his brother Cosimo.
